Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller (July 8, 1908 – January 26, 1979) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 41st vice president of the United States from 1974 to 1977, and previously as the 49th governor of New York from 1959 to 1973. L.F. Seymour of Farwell (Mich.) won the bid to construct a gravel road, located mostly in Ionia County and a bit of Kent County (Mich.). Seymour and Frank F. Rogers, the then State Highway Commissioner, signed the contract on Oct. 1, 1920. Seymour later sued for $10,663.21, his unpaid balance. He was eventually paid.
